Blue Planet's Jon Hurst Donates Time and Surgical Services To Haiti
August 25, 2010 - Cotes-De-Fer, Haiti
Jon Hurst, Service Technician at Blue Planet Lighting in Hollister, Missouri, traveled with a team of 10 people in August to the village of Cotes-De-Fer, Haiti on a 7 day Medical mission trip called “Hope For A Village”. The trip was sponsored by New Beginnings Fellowship of Hollister. New Beginnings provided the medical supplies and the food for the meals.
Jon acted as a surgical technician assisting with surgery, treating and dressing wounds, as well as assessing which patients had the greatest need.
After recently returning from the mission Jon had this to say, "I have never in my life seen so many people who were so desperately sick and in need of treatment and we saw many people who obviously would not have survived another month had they not received treatment. I hope and look forward to going back in the future and I hope that others can find it in their hearts to help these wonderful people as well. This trip changed my whole perspective on life and made me realize how truly blessed we are here in America. Until you experience something like this you can never understand how easily we could all help and make a world of difference."
